Commentary
A November 5 Durham council agenda lists a possible commitment of up to $19 million to the Tribute Rising affordable housing development. The proposal is an item for public deliberation rather than proof of a final award.
Our view for Durham
We support transparent investment in homes that ordinary Durham residents can afford. But the most persuasive argument for a substantial commitment is a precise account of how many homes will be built, at what rents, for how long and with what taxpayer risk. A groundbreaking photo should never substitute for that account.
