DURHAM, NC (WNCN) – The Durham Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that a juvenile has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after a man was struck and killed in a parking lot last July.
On July 14 just after midnight, deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck in a parking lot in the 4000 block of NC Highway 54 in Research Triangle Park.
When deputies arrived, they found EMS performing life-saving measures on the victim who was later identified as 22-year-old Oscar Avila Santos. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died.
The investigators said that they believe that the incident involved cars in the parking lot and that Santos was hit during the event.
