Durham, NC — A triple shooting near the A&T Mini Mart and Rise N Rinse Laundromat on South Alston Street left three people injured Saturday evening, according to the Durham Police Department. The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. near the intersection of Ridgeway Avenue and Lakeland Street, close to the McDougald Terrace apartments.
Police reported that one victim is in critical condition, while a second sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Both victims informed officers that a third person had also been shot, though this individual has not yet been located, according to police.
Photos from the scene show damage to the front windows of both the A&T Mini Mart and Rise N Rinse Laundromat, with evidence markers visible on the sidewalk outside the businesses in the 600 block of Lakeland Street. Multiple Durham police and patrol cars were observed on Ridgeway Avenue and surrounding streets as officers secured the area and conducted their investigation.
The shooting area, north of East Lawson Street and east of South Alston Avenue, was cordoned off as law enforcement worked to gather details. Durham police are continuing their investigation and have not released further information about potential suspects or motives.
