A fast-acting homeowner managed to contain a fire before it consumed a large single-story home on S. Miami Boulevard Sunday afternoon. The Durham Fire Department reported that crews were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. to find “extreme fire conditions” throughout the property.
Firefighters worked quickly, nearly extinguishing the flames within 10 minutes, but not before the blaze caused significant damage, including a large hole in the roof. Smoke poured from the roof, as captured in a photo by Bryan Baker, Division Chief, A-Shift of the Durham Fire Department.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported. The homeowner had evacuated safely, and the Red Cross has been notified to provide assistance.
The Durham County Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire. Stay with Bull City Citizen for more updates as they become available.
