The Durham County Supervisor resigned from the closed session of the Board of Commissioners

DURHAM, NC (WNCN) – The Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Monday evening to accept the resignation of Durham County Manager Kimberly Sowell.

After a closed meeting between their county commissioners around 9:30 p.m., board members read a list of issues discussed in closed session that needed approval. Included in the list is Sowell’s resignation as Durham County manager.

Sowell has been placed on paid leave effective Sept. 9, according to a previous report from CBS 17.

After the board voted unanimously, it also voted for Claudia Hager to serve as acting district manager until a new one is selected. Hager previously served as interim county manager back in 2021.
