Millie Dunn Veasey was a member of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, famously known as the Six Triple Eight. This all-Black, all-female Army battalion served during World War II, ensuring the delivery of critical mail to American soldiers stationed abroad. Their story, including Veasey’s contributions, has been spotlighted in the Netflix documentary The Six Triple Eight.
After her military service, Veasey returned to her home state of North Carolina, where she became a champion for civil rights and social justice.
