Notre Dame Strengthens Special Teams with Addition of Kicker Noah Burnette

In a strategic move to bolster their special teams, the University of Notre Dame has secured a commitment from graduate transfer kicker Noah Burnette. Burnette, a Raleigh, North Carolina native, previously served as the primary kicker for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, achieving a 79% success rate on field goal attempts over three seasons. He announced his decision to join the Fighting Irish on January 11, 2025.

During his tenure at UNC, Burnette demonstrated consistent performance, contributing significantly to the Tar Heels’ scoring efforts. His reliability and experience are expected to be valuable assets to Notre Dame’s special teams unit.

Notre Dame’s Transfer Strategy

Burnette’s addition aligns with Notre Dame’s recent approach of enhancing their roster through the transfer portal. In the same period, the Fighting Irish also welcomed defensive tackle Jared Dawson from Louisville, defensive tackle Elijah Hughes from USC, and defensive back Jalen Stroman from Virginia Tech. These strategic acquisitions aim to address key positions and strengthen the team’s depth as they prepare for the upcoming season.

As Burnette transitions to Notre Dame, he joins a program with a storied football tradition and high expectations. His experience and proven track record are anticipated to contribute positively to the team’s performance in the forthcoming season.
