ORLANDO, FL – Carrie Everett, the reigning Miss North Carolina, has started 2025 on a high note as she gears up for the Miss America pageant in Orlando. The North Carolina Central University (NCCU) student was named one of three winners in the prestigious Miss America’s Got Talent Kawai First Competition, held Thursday night at the Walt Disney Theater in the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

The Miss America organization announced the winners in a press release, recognizing Everett, alongside Miss Tennessee Carley Vogel and Miss Pennsylvania Paige Weinstein, for “exceptional performances that demonstrated the guests’ creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft.” Each winner was awarded a $3,000 scholarship for their outstanding talents.
