Durham, NC – A Granville County resident has struck it rich, claiming the top prize in the North Carolina Education Lottery’s Jumbo Bucks game. Manuel Taveras Paulino, of Creedmoor, purchased his winning $10 ticket at the Family Fare store on Guess Road in Durham.
The North Carolina Education Lottery announced Friday that Paulino’s ticket made him a $1 million winner. He visited lottery headquarters to claim his prize and chose the lump sum option of $600,000 instead of annual payments of $50,000 over 20 years. After taxes, he took home $393,000.
The Jumbo Bucks game, which launched in August, originally featured eight top prizes of $1 million. According to the NC Education Lottery, six of these $1 million prizes remain as of November 15, leaving plenty of opportunity for other hopeful winners.
The lottery continues to fund education initiatives across the state, with players like Paulino turning dreams into reality.
