DURHAM, NC – The Durham community mourns the loss of a civil rights icon, Dr. E. Lavonia Allison, whose lifelong dedication to justice, education, and equality profoundly shaped the Bull City. Her family has announced funeral arrangements and invites the community to join them in celebrating her extraordinary life and legacy.

• 12 PM – 4 PM: Public Viewing

Location: Burthey Funeral Service, 1510 Fayetteville St, Durham, NC 27707

• 6 PM: Wake Service, including the Delta Sigma Theta Omega Omega Service

Location: White Rock Baptist Church, 3400 Fayetteville St, Durham, NC 27707

Date: Saturday, January 25, 2025

• 11 AM: Public Viewing

• 12 PM: Family Visitation

• 1 PM: Funeral Service, followed by interment at Beechwood Cemetery
