Durham firefighters swiftly responded to and extinguished a fire at an outbuilding in the West End neighborhood Thursday evening. According to the Durham Fire Department, crews arrived on the scene just before 6:00 p.m. in the area of Jackson Street and Kent Street.
Thanks to the prompt action of the firefighters, the blaze was brought under control with no reported injuries or displacement of residents. “We’re grateful that no one was hurt and that damage was contained,” the department stated.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation as officials work to determine what sparked the flames.
