The Duke Blue Devils’ basketball program continues to dominate the recruiting scene, adding another top-tier talent to its already impressive lineup. As Bull City Citizen sports followers know, the Blue Devils’ legacy is only growing richer, and head coach Jon Scheyer and his team have secured yet another monumental commitment this weekend.
Shelton Henderson, a five-star forward out of Belair High School in Texas, has chosen to wear Duke blue, announcing his decision on Saturday. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound junior selected Duke over offers from Texas and Louisville, rounding out his final three choices despite interest from Houston, LSU, and Texas Tech. Henderson’s decision further cements Duke’s status as the top recruiting class for 2025, joining the likes of fellow standout recruits Cameron and Cayden Boozer and Nikolas Khamenia.
Henderson, who has visited Durham several times this fall—including a key official visit in September and a return trip for Duke’s highly-anticipated Countdown to Craziness event—has made waves nationally for his physicality on the court. As a dynamic scorer, formidable defender, and tenacious rebounder, he’s drawn national attention, ranking No. 22 in the 2025 class, according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings. During his junior year, he averaged 21.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.9 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game.
With this latest addition, Duke continues to reinforce its powerhouse status, setting the stage for what promises to be an electrifying future at Cameron Indoor Stadium. As always, we at Bull City Citizen will keep you updated on all things Blue Devil basketball as Scheyer’s squad shapes up for what could be a defining era in college hoops.
