An early morning collision brought traffic to a standstill on Interstate 40 East in Durham on Saturday. The incident, which involved two tractor trailers, occurred around 6:42 a.m. near exit 272, according to the Durham Police Department.
“No injuries have been reported, and the accident remains under investigation,” stated a news release from Durham Police. Currently, one of the eastbound lanes remains closed as crews work diligently to clear the scene.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation estimates that all lanes will reopen by 10:27 a.m., helping to ease congestion. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and stay updated with real-time traffic information.
