Chill in the Air, Joy on the Ice: Winter Fun at Fenton’s Outdoor Skating Rink
CARY, NC — As temperatures dip below 40°, winter lovers are embracing the chill at Fenton’s outdoor skating rink. On Monday evening, a steady stream of figure skaters glided under the festive lights, making the most of the crisp weather and the season’s charms.
For skater Tori Barker, the outdoor rink offers a unique winter experience. “It’s great. It has a certain effect on the atmosphere,” Barker said, gesturing toward the brightly lit Christmas tree nearby. “When you’re skating inside, it feels like it’s the same all year round, but when it’s cold outside and you’re skating outside, you’re like, ‘There’s a season.’”
Ryder Czysz, another skater on the ice, shared the excitement. “It’s actually really fun. Sometimes, you hit people and sometimes people get in the way, but overall it’s a lot of fun,” Czysz said with a grin.
The outdoor rink at Fenton offers a magical winter escape for skaters of all ages, combining twinkling lights, festive decorations, and the invigorating cold to create a quintessential seasonal outing.
Skaters have until February 9 to enjoy the rink, making it a perfect activity to embrace the winter spirit. Whether you’re a seasoned skater or just looking to try something new, Fenton’s rink is a must-visit destination for holiday cheer and frosty fun.
