Durham, NC — Authorities are searching for a man suspected of committing a string of armed robberies across Durham over a three-day span. The Durham Police Department has identified the suspect as 30-year-old Tyler Joe Ussery, who is considered armed and dangerous.

The robberies occurred between January 12 and January 14 and targeted multiple businesses, primarily along Hillsborough Road. According to police reports, the incidents include:

January 12:

• 7:55 PM: Armed robbery at CVS, 3500 block of Hillsborough Road

January 13:

• 6:45 AM: Armed robbery at Joe Van Gogh, 1100 block of Broad Street

• 2:12 PM: Armed robbery at Domino’s Pizza, 1200 block of Cole Mill Road

• 5:54 PM: Armed robbery at LocoPops, 2600 block of Hillsborough Road

• 7:14 PM: Armed robbery at Refuel, 3500 block of Hillsborough Road

• 7:25 PM: Armed robbery at KFC/Taco Bell, 3500 block of Hillsborough Road

January 14:

• 2:21 PM: Armed robbery at Subway, 3600 block of Hillsborough Road

• 9:00 PM: Armed robbery at McDonald’s, 2700 block of Guess Road

Suspect Description and Public Safety Alert

Police describe Ussery as approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with distinct tattoos on his neck and face. He is accused of wielding a firearm during these robberies, prompting police to classify him as “armed and dangerous.”

Authorities are urging the public not to approach Ussery but to contact law enforcement immediately if he is spotted. “If you see Mr. Ussery, call 911,” the Durham Police Department stated in a press release.
