A tragic shooting unfolded Saturday night outside the Cook Out on S. Miami Boulevard/US 70, just east of Durham near Angier Avenue. The Durham County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to the scene shortly after 10:30 p.m., where they discovered a woman deceased.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Davicia Annie Jean Lee. The Sheriff’s Office confirmed Sunday that detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division, along with forensic teams, remain on-site as the investigation continues.
This deadly incident occurred on the same night as a separate shooting that left four people injured at North Carolina Central University, just five miles away. Despite the close timing, deputies have indicated that the Cook Out shooting appears to be an isolated incident.
As of Sunday, no arrests have been made, and officials stated that the investigation is still in its early stages. They have promised to release additional details as they become available.
