In a troubling sequence of events, Durham experienced two shootings within hours on Wednesday night, resulting in one man’s death and another suffering life-threatening injuries.
First Incident: Ridgeway Avenue Shooting
At approximately 6:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1200 block of Ridgeway Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered a man with life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Second Incident: East Lawson Street Fatality
Just four hours later, around 10:43 p.m., police were dispatched to the 1200 block of East Lawson Street, less than a mile from the earlier incident. There, they found an elderly man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
